Debt Defense
Liz offers affordable options for representation in Debt Defense cases. In Minnesota, if you have received paperwork from a creditor (most likely you will have been served with said paperwork) that says “Summons” and “Complaint”, you need to contact an attorney right away. After being served you only have twenty (20) days to serve a formal Answer on the creditor and/or their attorney. You need to do this even if there is no court file number on the Summons and Complaint, you don’t recognize the creditor’s name, or you don’t believe that the debt is valid. If you do not properly and timely respond, the creditor will request that the Court enter a Default Judgment against you. Once the creditor has a default judgment, they can garnish your wages and your bank account.
