- Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. Chapter 7 bankruptcy is the most common type of bankruptcy. In Minnesota, a Chapter 7 bankruptcy will discharge an individual from most debt, including credit cards, medical bills, and other unsecured debt.
- Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. Chapter 13 bankruptcy allows an individual to repay some of their debt through a 3 to 5-year plan.
- Means Test. Depending on your income, you may have to pass the “means test” in order to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. If you do not pass the means test, you will be limited to filing for Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
